November 2020

Dear Neighbour,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the last of the Fall colours as we head into cooler temperatures. This month sees Remembrance Day, Diwali and the beginning of the Holiday season. As we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic I would ask that you remain vigilant and protect yourselves and each other. Keep up to date with the with the latest recommendations and observe social distancing when you're outside your personal circle.

As some of us begin our holiday shopping be sure to consider our local shops and businesses. They need our help and patronage to weather the difficult conditions they face. Thank you for giving them your support.

Have a safe and enjoyable November.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is an important observance for Canadians. To celebrate safely during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Region of Peel Public Health and Ontario Ministry of Health recommend attending a memorial event virtually, if possible.

Join us virtually on November 11 as we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and honour those who served and continue to serve today.

Museums of Mississauga is also offering virtual and in-person programs honouring our veterans throughout the fall and into 2021. Programs include, WAR Flowers: A Touring Art Exhibition , Our Boys: Mississauga’s Fallen Soldiers 1914-1918 and an Online Speakers Series.

To coincide with Remembrance Day, I have worked with City staff to provide new benches to The Legion Branch 582 in Cooksville. Consider making a donation to the Legion online or purchasing a digital poppy online this year.

Food and Clothing Donation

As we head into the colder months and holiday season, please consider those in our community who are less fortunate. One of the best ways we can help is to donate what we're able to the Mississauga Food Bank. Thank you for your consideration and all you do.
